I didn’t expect that the rain would continue past the weekend. To think that this typhoon was supposed to be farther in the Visayas than the recent previous one (where there was so much fuss that classes were suspended, only to have clear skies on that day of suspension) and yet, it actually felt like Signal No.1. As a result, I finally had my tennis fix yesterday.
My colleague and I were supposed to play but she was unable to wake up on time for our 9AM appointment so I ended up playing alone. Wait, I meant playing with a hitting partner—our ‘coach’—who made me run from side to side of the court. I’ve been trying to build up more stamina during occasional stints at the gym but at the end of the hour, I still felt tired.
It also didn’t help that I slightly twisted(?) my right foot. It’s not bad, but I felt it…bend. I had it bandaged now so it would remain steady and not have so much pressure on it. Hehe, I intend to have another go at it before the term ends—maybe later this week or the next ^__^.
Let’s see…my forehand is a pass, with a little work on the timing; my serve is so-so—without force, it’s usually in but with force, it’s a hit-miss thing; but my backhand could use a lot of work. It’s frustrating that I can’t get the consistency I need. My two-handed needs less work than my one-handed—coach said it’s okay to use two hands but being the stubborn kid that I am, I still try the one hand…and it’s…flying on an arch…way off the opposite baseline ^^;; Ugh.
My dad once said that in tennis sessions like this, an hour goes by very quickly. I have yet to reach that point where an hour is a breeze. The last fifteen minutes or so was for service practice and I had a basket full of balls to get rid off. Not only that, if the serve was good, a rally would come after. So imagine my relief when there were two balls left...only to have coach yell out at the other end of the court that I serve last ten balls! Could you say I’m getting my money’s worth? @_@
After the session, I stayed in the court for some time to catch my breath. Two senior citizen couple began to play after a while and it was clear that both of them have been playing before. The lady had a nice backhand (a consistent one that made me want to cry...^^;) and the old man had this awesome serve where they ball really curved. I picked up a few balls that came near my direction and gave it back to the lady. I watched them play until their second break when I took my leave—as I looked back at them, the old lady waved and I did as well.
I headed back to school and finished my work. Yes, people—that was on the agenda, and I’m proud to say that I’m done with my non-student work *throws confetti* ^o^
Literal Thoughts of the Day: ''I retrieved several balls that came near my direction at different times and gave it to the old lady, who was on the side of the court near me. She was friendly and we exchanged brief words a couple of times. As a went back to my seat, I began to wonder: I’ve always brought someone along in places outside my comfort zone because I always thought of myself of being way too much of an introvert to interact. But after the brief acquaintance with the lady, I figured—maybe the fact that I’m always bringing someone I know is what’s making me more of an introvert--having someone I already know out there makes me ‘hold back’ and don’t ‘reach out’, when in fact, I can. And back there, I did.''

ASTIG!!!
I kinda felt a 'kick' in that statement also, especially the last sentence. I didn't expect somebody else would see it that way : )
