Appreciating Fate

I’ve always been a firm believer of ‘acting on something you want to achieve’. Laymen would refer to a saying of ‘you reap what you sow’ (or something like that…) and those familiar with psychology may link it with ‘internal locus of control’. Bottom line is if you want something done, have the initiative to do it—do not wait for somebody else to do it for you, nor wait for the universe (and the constellations) to conspire to your side just so you’ll get what you want. For me, fate is something that happens after you’ve done everything you could.

Yet today, fate intervened. Then initiative took control.

All it took was a student who happened to pass by carrying two Babolat tennis racquets, a colleague’s guts to ambush interview the unsuspecting student and deciding to take several chances afterwards. In the end, we got a venue that is free and very convenient. Sure, it’s a little shabby, slightly worn out, with no ball kids but it’s private (hopefully) and has a wall to practice on. At least, we’ll look like incredibly hilarious noobs in a clandestine fashion ^_~.

It’s amusing (maybe paradoxical) that the two ideas worked well together in one circumstance. And I’m not even supposed to be in school on a Tuesday. Go figure.
